You would turn wifi hotspot on, on your current active phone.

Then you can turn on wifi calling on your old phone and make wifi calls without paying for a second line of service. It connects through your primary phone, or via any other home or business wifi.

I haven't tried it yet, so I have no further details.

Your main phone is not making a phone call and shouldn't display its Caller I-D info on the other end; it's just a data pipe. All caller info is going to originate on your hobby phone, which is making the wifi call.

You should be able to use use any wifi connection you have available. Could be a hotel, could be McDonald's. We're just using the primary phone as a hotspot source because it's typically available wherever you are.

I'm probably getting a new phone in a few weeks, freeing up my old one for the hobby. I might do some tinkering then.
