The Good:

In case anyone hasn't noticed, the NOVA forum is absolutely the most active, dynamic and informative in the DMV and also much better than many others across the country. Since access to good and timely intel has the potential to save us time and money, it's in every hobbyist's interests to keep this forum humming.

Almost every post, report and review has some positive value. At first glance that may seem doubtful but I would argue that even a poorly written, overly vague, information-deficient report or review still provides a starting point for questions or further discussion. And the responses provided (or lack thereof) by the original poster give the rest of the forum members additional intel as to whether future contributions from that poster should be given any weight or ignored altogether. Additionally, the original poster (whether newbie or senior) is given valuable feedback as they see whether their contribution attempt was embraced or panned.

The Bad:

Even in view of the above, there are definitely some poor posting practices that are like a bad penny that keeps popping up. Some of these are newbie mistakes (which most of us have made in our time), such as posting the BP link without any other information so that, if the link goes bad for any reason, the entire post is rendered useless. The flip side of that coin is posting intel using only the girl's name, which almost always turns out to be one of those generic provider names used by multiple providers. Can't say exactly how many women are out there who go by Tiffany, Amber, Honey, or similar, but I'm sure there are a sh*tload.

IMHO, there's a pretty simple "Golden Rule" of posting to which I try to adhere. Which for me boils down to putting into a post, review or report the kind of info which I would find actionable and helpful. Services and price are two other items of prime importance. Telling me a provider is GFE isn't very helpful without a price-point to help me assess relative value. Finding GFE is no problem if you're willing to shell out 300+ but is much more of a challenge when looking at 200/ hr or less. For those who think this may be TMI, let me point out that many providers freely put this info in their ads. And for those who choose not to advertise their prices and service levels, well that's exactly what this board is all about, isn't it? We all want to find out what the real deal is before we spend our hard-earned $! Of course there are more items that can be included in this list (appearance, fake pics, smoker / non-smoker) but I think the general idea is clear that it's a good rule to post the kind of info you would want to read in order to make a good "go / no-go" decision. And one final note is that I get more out of negative reviews than I do positive ones because, like reviewing a restaurant, what you like depends entirely on your taste but what you don't like (ripoffs, flakes, lack of cleanliness, bad service) tends to be universal.

The Ugly:

Uncle LEO has always been a fact of life in this hobby and will continue to be so unless / until our laws are changed to legalize consensual adult behavior. There are many ways to minimize risks and there will always be some who are so skittish they may want to reconsider their hobby activities. That being said, to say a provider's ad "smells like a sting" is a bit unfair without any further evidence. There are plenty of ads out there with TGTBT pics and where the pricing seems low and without reports (yet) on the oThER site. IMHO, Uncle LEO has enough knowledge of the marketplace and sophistication to place ads which avoid obvious "tells". Wait until some time has passed and you can see if the provider in question is posting in other areas or until some positive reports and reviews start to appear. The biggest problem is "littlehead-itis" which pushes a monger into making an impulsive decision. Chasing after the girls in the newest ads increases the risk dramatically.
