Actually there IS an answer. 12 men on base is the minimum required to have the first two batters strike out 5 times each. I wanted to minimize the runs scored, so I used a reasonable amount of hits, then figured the amount of walks and errors needed to make it a shutout but also keep the scenario realistic. Nice try tho in trying to turn my pitcher into a biatch. Haha.

It dawned on me (I'm slow) that you may be thinking that I am dissing Randy Johnson. That was not my intent as I was merely working out the math possibilities and what would be a scenario where 2 batters struck out 5 times. Randy is one of the top 10 greatest pitchers of ALL TIME. That is no simple feat. Additionally, I liked his nickname as it reminds me of me LOL! BTW If I am reading the stats correctly, Randy, on average walked 3 batters per game lifetime. Of course my favorite guy was Al Kaline. Saw him throw a ball that would have been called a strike to home plate, had he been pitching, from right field. I don't see the logic of calling on ignoring these trolls when I have tried and other members have tried the same line of approach. It just doesn't work. Yeah, I think you're right, just too many permutations. E. G. He could walk everybody except the 2 and then have the base runners picked off. OR if the position numbers are NOT #1 and #2 then their frequency at plate drops unless other position are hitting or getting walked or balked or whatevers. A lot of possibilities so I think there is no answer. Again e. G. If you take positions #4 and #6 as your strike out guys (basically midway thru the lineup) and just give a count to how many batters get on base (whether thru walks, balks, errors, getting hit whatever) then with an average of each guy doing 5 or 6 at bats, the team would place 21 guys on base while the 2 each had 5 strike outs. But way too many possibilities. Even your scenario with positions #1 and #2 places 12 on base. 4 hits, 5 walks, 3 errors. Now, if only going to KBs was as easy.
