If we all pay same price, then we reduced everyone down to lowest denominator. Those that are better at negotiation lose out. One should be rewarded with better price if better skill. I think that was your take CaptJohn. I cannot argue with that. However, if you and your neighbors all need a generator, and you find a special discount code online, do you not share? Would it hurt you if you did. I don't have the answer, I guess we all have our take. I appreciate the forum allowing me to air mine with civility and respect. I will do the same for others. Now, if I can only find a good spinner type provider who is not flake prone to give a newbie on a tight schedule a chance, I'd be posting about dreams and leaving the economics to the professors out there.

It's not only silly, it's unamerican. It's in SP best interest and our fellow forum members to know the rate. If it's too high (as in Lacey's quoted 300 rate) business goes down, SP drops rate. Customer is happy, SP is busy and win win for all. If demand rises to point supply can't keep up, then fine for SP to raise rate. Customer happy cause it must be quality stuff, SP happy with her new found celebrity status and increased coinage. No one wants to get screwed on rates, or feel they didn't get a good deal. We want certainty. So this floating rate of say 300 with knowledge it's negotiable, is BS. I'll pass cause I'm not buying a car (price isn't the price and you negotiate); I'm just going for a joy ride. Let the market dictate price. We ain't communists here! Just horny Americans who value our monger money. Now, if I know Lacey's rate, I may bite. So, isn't it in Lacey's best interest to have the fellow member disclose it. Of course, I may still reconsider given bad report maybe one page back on her flaking out. FH69.
