Yes, there is a way to turn this off. If you go on a PC browser (not sure about where or if this is in the GV app) to "settings" then "calls" the first item is call screening. Turn this off and that announcement goes away and the call rings directly. There are other ways to tell if a # is GV. Specifically some skip tracing websites (http://www.whitepages.com/reverse_phone) and tools will tell you what carrier a # is associated with. Bandwidth.com is the carrier for google voice. Just researched this one the other day. You also need to have the voicemail greeting be yours and not the system standard as that one announces that, "the google voice subscriber cannot be reached...."

Just record a greeting and it bypass the google screening. Also remember that GV will go to voicemail after 25 secs. You need to set the regular voicemail pickup for LONGER than 25 secs or it will go to your normail voicemail if someone calls in. AND never dismiss and incoming call. Again it will go to regular voicemail not GV voicemail.

Log in with your associated user I'd and p / w. Go to settings / calls. Click the radio button that says "off" under call screening.

I always screen and have them announce their name because I don't use a burner. Having this set to off would catastrophic.
