Its going to be my first time and I'm unsure if there are any newbie friendly service providers (preferably independent) which "Seniors" here in this group, are aware of; and can recommend to me. When she called me it asked for her name because my GV is also used for side work. So that is what gave it away. But honestly if they are not ok with people using a GV eh you aren't worth me spending my money on.

Log in with your associated user I'd and p / w. Go to settings / calls. Click the radio button that says "off" under call screening.

I always screen and have them announce their name because I don't use a burner. Having this set to off would catastrophic.

I had a civi call my GV number and she said that when it rang a voice said 'this person is using google voice please hold while we locate this person'. That is how they might have found out. Is there a way to change this setting?

If he didn't set it up correctly, the defaults make it clear that the phone is through GV.

Free app called 'textnow' gives you free phone number free texts and free voice calls. Alternatively you can use an app called Burner for unlimited numbers you can use then burn. (For a fee). Enjoy.
