This is not correct. Multiple towers can be used to triangulate your position. Your phone only locks onto the nearest tower that has capacity. If that tower becomes 'full', your device's connection can be handed off to another tower. While LE may or may not have an interface to triangulate any device, people with the correct security access inside the Telco can do this. I know, because a buddy of mine has that access and when his house was ripped off (including his phone), he grabbed some linebacker buddies and paid a little visit to the guy who ripped him off.

And then there are stingray devices. Go Google those and be REALLY scared. Luckily they should be used to catch real bad guys and not aimed at you.

Additionally, ANY time you booted the phone and your personal phone was nearby, both pop up in the same location. Maybe random chance. But the 2nd & 3rd time that happens, there is a pattern. Patterns are what you should be scared of.

Some interesting ideas, but as most of us aren't arch criminals and only want to have some fun, I'd guess simple stuff keeps us safe.

Pulling the sim card and battery out would seem to eliminate most tracking concerns. I got a go phone from walmart for cash, sets up on att system over the air, no internet required. Instructions were hard, actually doing it simple, took like 10-15 minutes. Works fine, most any area code you want.

If you need to activate over internet and all the anon stuff is mind numbing tech stuff, try looking at TunnelBear, its easy, free for limited use and does most of what the tech guys say keeps you anon.

If you're a normal guy, I think le just laughs at this and its more for our own peace of mind. If you are a real badass, I'm sure no amount of hiding keeps you off radars. Keep in mind, all these places have cameras, so, if someone can access DMV, they can grab a screenshot and run your photo through dmv to I'd you.

What I said was that IF a phone is E911 equipped then it has the technology in it to 'broadcast' your GPS location. I also said that feature is INTENDED for when you are in an accident or in trouble and aren't able to communicate your location. So we agree on that.

IF you choose to believe that there is no way for the tracphone maker / carrier to activate that GPS-location function remotely then you can believe that. Having seen enough cases of how technology is ab / used by government and tech companies I believe if the phone has the ability to broadcast it's location then it's pretty likely the manufacturer would have set up some kind of backdoor / secret-override to let them activate that feature themselves. No I can't prove it I am not arguing with you just sharing my opinion like you shared yours.

Also as I stated below LE can only track the phone to the nearest cell tower it pings off of but as soon as you move from that location LE cannot track you down if you don't hang around the ping spot too long. If you don't believe that call 911 on your anonymous burner trac phone and don't tell them where you are and find out how long it takes them to figure out where you are. If you are having a stroke and you can't talk don't get an anonymous trac phone because you will dead before they find you! Finally if you dispose of the phone always remove and destroy the sim card and there will be no evidence on the phone. Same as a computer if you don't want anyone to track your ISP address use a free anonymizer proxy and or find a hot spot with a laptop. I believe at this moment if you could track my ISP address you will find that it is coming from a server in Russia or Nigeria. The ISP address changes daily. Maybe right now I am reporting to you from an Indonesia server but not sure. Lastly obliterate your hard drive when you ditch your computer same as the sim card in your phone. Hope that info helped out all you law abiding mongers out there!
