I generally try to avoid using my day-job credentials here, but definitely need to chime in when it comes to the over (and inappropriate) use of antibiotics by lay people. Current guidelines for Gonorrhea-like symptoms involve treating for both Gonnocccal infections as well as Chlaymidia as they frequently present at the same time. This generally includes an injection of a cephalosporin to treat Gonorrhea as well as azithromycin or doxycycline. It is very important to have a culture for both treatment and epidemiology.

Treating yourself is terrible for two reasons.

1. It may not treat the causative organism.

2. The organism may be resistant to the dose, length, or drug itself.

Lastly, drug resistance changes over location and time. Even if a certain drug has worked for you in the past for a similar infection, using the wrong medication may not only contribute to other drug resistance, but also affect those that you (may) give the gift to.

Always check the drug interactions and foods to avoid with antibiotics. Doxycycline is countered by calcium, so eating yogurt or other dairy while on doxycycline is counter-productive. Interactions vary form antibiotic to antibiotic; some are fine with dairy, some are fine with alcohol, some are not.

First of all thanks to my fellow mongers for your advice and support. I was treated at the clinic yesterday with four tabs of azithromycin and it seems as though it has knocked the dripping out already, the stinging is still there when I piss though it has decreased also. It goes without saying, that I am not going to be dipping my buddy anywhere for the foreseeable future until I get the all clear from the doc. Some have asked through PM who gave it to me, and I will only say this: I have my suspicions on how I got it but no evidence, so really it doesn't matter who I got it from, what matters more is who I passed it to. So if any of you happen to know any of the SW that I have reported on since August 23 please advise them that one of their dates was recently dripping and that they should be checked out. Fellow mongers, you should be advised that my good health has been compromised. This morning I tested positive for NGU most likely due to infection from clamidia.
