I'm not sure why creating a gmail account is needed for the phone "account" for a prepaid. But if one is needed to activate the phone, why not do it anywhere you can get free wifi without having to sign in. So going to McDonalds to activate the phone should fix his privacy hole. Had your ex done that, she might have gotten away with it. Providing she posted it using an account that she created or used only at, say, McDonalds. The MAC address of any computer connected is probably logged and so could still tie her directly to the post (in case of a shared IP address). Provided that there was probable cause to seize her computer, which I don't think there would be. With the actual case, there would be since the IP was traced to her location and her relationship to you.

I don't want to discount everything that's been said about phones here, but I'm not Jason Bourne. I bought a tracphone and I didn't disguise myself or even try to activate it in any sneaky way. If the police wanted to find me and tie me to that phone, I'm pretty sure they could. The important thing is to get a phone number and email address that is not tied in any way to your normal personal life. If some provider came out and posted on the internet "BA at 999-999-9999 is a rotten piece of garbage" no one who knows me would be able to identify me through that name or phone number.

The deal at Mandela is that they screen you and then put your name into their database. Before computers they had all of your information written on a 3' x 5' Index Card. This information was rather detailed. Your Masseuse's name, the date that you visited, your personal hygiene, your tipping habits, what type of service your prefer such as a HE, Topless, Fully Nude etc, Of course, If you did FS that was between you and your Masseuse. Although I never experienced FS at Mandela it has been mentioned here and at the other defunct site. How do I know all of this? Yes the other gents are correct. Nancy has been around for quite awhile. I first met her as Anne of South Boston. I would prefer no file and remain discrete to any potential peering or examining eyes. The discomfort from not getting my time far outweighs the embarasment of being listed in the paper as a potential John.

A way around this was devised by a local restaurant near me. You call ahead for an appointment and give your name and they give you a 4 number code that you write down. So you go to the receptionist and say : I am Mike and have an appointment at 1 PM and my confirmations code is " 1234". Then they know you are you.

Another idea is for the place to keep a file of names" everyone uses a false name but one that distinct and they can look you up and see if you show up for appointments or are a no show etc. If you are solid loyal then never take a walk in on you.

Reminds me of Theraputic Relaxation from Years ago. The excuse from the receptionist is they have lots of no shows " bird in hand is better than two in tree". I told them that I am a regular as they kept a name / file so they know who you are and NEver missed an appointment " solid customer". But they said no. Last time I went there.
