Saw Half Pint out on a stroll Saturday afternoon about 3PM. She was on the west side of Nebraska going north arond 135th.

Couldn't slow down for a pic or loop around as had company with me. One has to be crazy to approach her in that area. She is too well known to HCSO. Probably let her stroll as their version of chum. Waiting to arrest anyone that stops to even say hello.

I want to share an observation on umarked police cars. Once, a few years ago I was near the intersection of Nebraska and Fowler. As I sat at a red light, I saw a dude running in my direction on the sidewalk and as he got closer I saw that he had a Colt Python 357 Magnum in his hand (yes, he was so close to me as he ran by I could see what model pistol he was carrying! To be fair, the Python has a very distinctive profile) and that a uniformed cop was on foot chasing him. Within two minutes a swarm of a dozen or so unmarked cars arrived and helped run this guy down. He had robbed a local store at gunpoint and I think he ran out of the store right into a cop car! They caught him as he ran down a side street.

Anyway, my point is that the unmarked cars were all types of makes and models, including old ratty cars that you'd never suspect a cop was driving. The cops were in plain clothes and some looked like your typical redneck construction worker, a couple looked hispanic, etc, but they indeed were cops. Some had badges hanging from their necks, a couple has armored vests on and others simply looked like your average Joe in civilian clothes.

Ever since, I have been vigilant, always looking for the "hiding in plain sight" unmarked car. Everyone can spot those unmarked Crown Vics, it's the 98 Nissan pickup truck or other "beater" that I'm looking for! I defer to the more knowlegable mongers, but I did want to share that at least on that day, cops were driving unmarked cars of all makes, models and vintage.

Be safe, fellas. Personally, I think the next week or so is a great time to stay off Nebraska and adjacent strolls!

I've been watching TPD for years. I believe your story. It could be 2 things, off duty cops responding to a shots fired or officer down call. It could be that the perp was sit up and this was a sting. The cops may have found a pattern to this guy's armed robbery and they may have known where and when he would go next. They might have been waiting and watching for him.

But you are right to watch for all vehicles, a monger never can be too careful.

Old timer Rebecca was passed out on the bench, when a guy must have really needed some help. This monger parked around the corner and walked over to wake her up and give her a job to do.
