Question. If you are actually "Arrested" for Soliciting / Loitering / whatever they actually write. Are you able to Bail yourself out? (cash-credit card etc) or do you have to call someone else to come get you. Or. Can you call a Bail Bondsmen to come get you. I aguess I am assuming someone on this Board has gone through this Hell, and can give some actual facts, (as oposed to soliciting educated Guesses). PS- Not planning on getting arrested, But then again, who ever does.

So I can tell you first hand here is what happens on the First Offence. You will be cuffed and stuffed in the back of a hot smelly van with a bunch of other mongers, then several hours later when the van is full enough you will transported to 8th and Race, processed, see the nurse and then if your lucky get thrown in the "tank" if your not lucky thrown in a cell with 2 other dudes. Then you will wait. And wait. And wait. You get the point. If your luck is still holding out within 8 hours of this you may get finger printed and photographed. THEN your info is sent up to see a bail judge. In the next 8 to 16 hours you will first be taken to a room with video phones and talk to a case worker, then back to your cell, hours later you will be taken to a little room with a bunch of other guys and one by one see the Bail Judge on a different Video Phone. If your have a had a good day like I did, you will RORed (released own reconnaissance) given a court date and released. For me this all took 16 hours, and trust me it seems way longer when your in there. But I have been told that actually pretty quick, it can take lots longer.

Now on your court date you get the joy of being stood up in front of the entire court while the Judge tell everyone your are charged with soliciting a prostitute, and of course almost every court worker is a woman. This is a 3rd degree misdemeanor, if this is your first offence you will most likely (but by no means guaranteed) be placed in the AMP (Accelerated Misdemeanor Program). This means you will have to pay court costs of $200. 50 cents and do 12 hours of community service at one of the places they give you to pick from. Also please note when talking to you case working do not let them know you make any substantial money, I made that mistake and they would not give me a public defender I had to pay for a lawyer to go to court with me, that's 500 bucks. You are given about 5 weeks to complete all this and if you are done and turn in all the paperwork 5 or more days in advance you don't have to go to the second court day, they will just dismiss your case.

NOW, you are cleared but this shit is still on your record for anyone with a computer and your name to see in the court docket portal. So next step is back to court with a lawyer to file a motion to expunge this from your record, this means a trip downtown to the Courthouse, more money, more paper work.

Now one thing I left out, your car, in my case I got lucky. They just parked it near where I was picked up and gave me my keys back. So me and a couple other mongers I got locked up with chipped in for a Taxi back to where our cars were when we got out. If your NOT this lucky, then when you are released you will have to go the impound yard and go through all that buillshit to get your car back. More time and money.

SO as you can all see from this little summery getting caught AND arrested is a royal pain in the ass, not to mention if your married having to explain where you were and all this shit your now doing to get out of trouble. Most guys just used the excuse DUI, I have no SO so I was fine. Then there's missing work unexpectedly, and to top it all off DO NOT get arrested on a Friday night or you will sit in holding till Monday morning, there are no Bail hearings on the weekend.

This little experience has made we rethink allot of shit about this deed we all do, not saying I'm totally reformed, but I'm a lot less Gung Ho about it now.

Yes you are able to bail yourself, but there is more to the headache then just bail. Your car will also get towed, and depending on the circumstance you may get your photo plastered in the news paper.

I had met Bobbie a couple of weeks ago, but didn't have time for anything more than a rushed BJ. She was good, but circumstances didn't provide her with the opportunity to show any real distinction, so we agreed to get together for a more in-depth session.

I hope there is someone who took that physician's place, he made things safer for all of us, and improved the lives of at least a few of the women whom society spurns.

He once remarked that he had considered placing "contribution jars" at area convenience stores to gather funds to expand his abilities. I don't believe this ever happened.

Sadly, I don't think there's anyone providing that kind of service to the young ladies, as it would probably fall into the category of an "insurance issue" these days.

As for the collection jar. What a wonderful idea, which would probably be squashed in an instant by all of the same self-righteous assholes who feel that free distribution of things like condoms or needles would be "contributing to immoral behavior."

For almost twelve years, from 1990 until the latter part of 2001, I used to "draw bloods" and cultures for a "house" located in Wynnefield. I became friends with almost all of the girls there, and in that entire time, only two tested positive for an STD; one chlamydia, the other Hepatitis "A". Which was reported to the proper authorities, and precautions and notifications were taken. There used to be a MONTCO physician who oversaw the care of these "women of the evening", he has since retired. He also cared for many of the women who spent time at "Dxxxxx's place". The M. D. Was actually an OB / GYN who used to monger. He performed this service from the early 1970's until around 2003.

I've been out of that loop for quite some time, but I remember that another paramedic from the area used to collect the labwork for the women at Dxxxxx's. He also cared for their health in general, and when the occasional pregnancy occurred (not usually the failure of birth control) , he either delivered the child, or arranged for the other option to be performed; all with little or no cost to the girl.

He also supplied the various medications necessary for their health needs, within reason. I don't think that he ever turned anyone away, either. One other thing, if memory serves, many of the girls came out of either the Carolina's or the Akron, Ohio region. I don't know if this is still the case. There was one girl, a "thirty something" brunette named "Vicki" who worked at both locations; she was very special to me, and became a good friend. I can see why CJ remarks about marriage plans on occasion.

The houses paid a small fee for the collection, and the labs were taken to a hospital lab about 60mi from the city. I am certain that the authorities in the city were aware of this endeavor, as I understand that neither location received frequent "special attention" from the authorities.

Yeah, I'm one of those "suckers" too, who actually regards these girls as human, and who cares about them. Especially the ones who I get to know reasonably well. Whether it's the drugs or the many potential illnesses (bacterial, viral, STD, etc, etc.) that can afflict them, they don't exactly carry robust health insurance policies, and don't have the defenses to get well when they're sick. It's sad, and I constantly remind myself that every one of them is somebody's daughter, who, were it not for bad decisions or simply bad circumstances might have would up in a completely different world.

Sure, we turn to them for our pleasure, but please. Let's remember that they are also deserving of our respect.

Unfortunately antibiotics are no long a priority for big pharma. With the exception of Tuberculosis, and few oddball organisms, even the most severe bacterial infections only require from a couple of doses, to a couple of weeks of treatment. Make a good ED, acid reflux, or allergy medicine and you've got patients taking it for years! It's all about the Benjamins.

From what you describe here, it sounds like maybe she was infected with a resistant for of staph. .

No matter it's a very sad day when I read of a girl like Michelle losing her struggle with life on the infamous Ave. I often wonder if those of us who know these girls are the only ones that truly care about losing them. There are those girls that don't really belong on the Ave. Michelle is one of those girls. She was prettier than the average girl on the streets. One could tell she had pride in herself. She was always clean and pleasant. She would sit in one of her dresses usually on Huntingdon on the church steps. Watching the traffic go by almost hoping she would not be noticed. Yet she was very aware how badly she needed the few dollars she could make. She didn't like what she had to do to survive. None of the girls do. But they are thrust into a world that is so much bigger than they are and when they finally realize that, it is usually to late. What they do they have to do to survive. The mean streets will chew them up and and look for the next victim. It doesn't take very long. What many may not have known is that Michelle was working even though she knew she was sick. Just prior to her passing we were together. I cupped her face to kiss her goodbye which is what we always did. She cringed in excruciating pain. I remember thinking Oh My God what have I done. I told her how sorry I was that I had hurt her and she said it wasn't my fault. Then she showed me what appeared to be a large abscess about the size of my thumb under her hair. It was not a pleasant sight at all. That was a Saturday. I told her it looked very serious and she should try to get it looked at as soon as possible. The next day, Sunday she texted me that she took my advice and she was in the hospital. That is the last I heard of her. In the past few days two friends asked me if I knew what had happened to her. Without thinking I told them I was unaware anything had happened to her. All three of us thought at first it was the drugs that took her. But now in hindsight I wonder if it was the condition that I saw that that took this lovely girl from us.

No matter, she is now gone. It is my responsibility to this community and most of all to her, to make all those who read this aware that there is a very good possibility she did not die of drugs as so many do. I say this without knowing the cause of her death. But knowing the condition of her health, the possibility lies that she may have escaped a drug overdose and just simply passed away due to other circumstances. Should anybody have any info regarding this please share it with those of us that truly care what happens to the girls out there.

From what you describe here, it sounds like maybe she was infected with a resistant for of staph. These staff bacteria can lay dormant in the body for years just waiting. The bacteria usually kept in check through our natural barriers, hence sinus membranes, intestines, etc, can break through the barrier and cause infection. Once that happens, is can enter the blood stream cause a person to become septic and die very quickly. 50% of all hospital workers carry this form of resistant staph in their sinus passages. Chances are it will not cause infection, but at any given time it can with someone who uses needles and is run down to bits from long term drug use.

This is the second time in the past two months I google searched a name and found an obituary. I assume it was drug related. It seems like those a* holes that want to steal your wallet and all kind of other under handed s*t stay out there for ever but the ones that are still decent human beings regardless to the life style they live are taken away. Just out of sheer curiosity, has anyone ever hung around Center City around 12:30-2am? Depending on how lucky I get with something, I may have a job working night shift soon. I mean if you've read my post, you know I'm completely new. (Hence the name True Noob) I thought I'd start by just testing the 22 rules, by walking around seeing if I can I'd possible SWs and / or watch the stroll. I do not have any plans to attempt to solicit anything, I'm just really interested.

For normal paid action in Center City pick up the free weekly City Paper and find the ads for massage parlors, many of which are in the Vine & Race street area.
