Hmmm. That would probably explain the sparseness of the talent on the streets the last couple of times I've been driving through. I have attempted many visits as of late and it just seems like I am missing seeing the girls if they are there. I have seen a large number of girls sleeping in an upright posture but thats not my thing. I was on the K Thursday and it seemed like LW was everywhere. I have been relying on BP but that gets expensive.

Apparently you missed the part where I back tracked on those comments? Problem is I was using sarcastic humour. The comments we IMHO WAY over the top so I figured it would be obvious. However, I recognize that humour can be personal and not everyone is going to see things in the same light. Sorry if I offended. Not what I was doing.

I got into this 'hobby' back in 90, 91 I was in my early 20's and fresh out of the Marines, had no fears, no website like this and I will admit now that I look back no brains. I think back on the abandon blds, houses, and parks that I let SW's take me too I'm lucky to still be alive, But I will say this Philly is a different jungle now. The 'game' is pretty much the same but the rules and the arena have drastically changed.

My advice to you is you need to practice and build confidence. To this day I park and use the 'boots on the ground' method. To me it just feels safer then pulling over and picking up from a car with a license plate tied to your name and address. Now having said that these days I would not park on or near the Ave (or any hot spot in philly for that matter) AFTER DARK.

I agree, good advice. The streets are no place to "jump into" just on a whim to learn. Learn from others. Read the threads, take some time, get yer feet wet slowly. I think we agree on that approach.

A / C is a great place to get your feet wet and to learn and hone your skills. The strip in AC is relatively safe at any time of night due to the amount people and traffic that is always there. It is here where you can learn to develop your 'monger senses', learn the do's and don'ts and feel out what your approach and limits are going to be and if you want to pursue this hobby / addiction.

Yes I said addiction, for a good part of the 90's mongering was a weekly thing for me, there were nights that I would blow a tank of gas going from one local to another to find what I wanted. Now 20 some years later I still have those urges, I have a slit cut in the carpet of my car and every greenback I can hide away goes there to I build up enough to take off work and go on a hunt.

Take it slow, take your time, and think before every move, above all safety first!

Look, what I can tell from your posts is that there is some level of doubt and perhaps a bit of fear. All of that is normal and it becomes part of a mongers internal "radar" that he uses to stay out of trouble. I am sure others can tell stories about ignoring that radar and the consequences.

But what I do know from experience is that one needs to be able to hide or mask any fear, doubts or apprehension. The girls on the street can smell that a mile a way. Now while not all will act on it, many will eat you alive if they smell the fear.

So recognizing one's limitations is good. Nothing wrong with being young or new. Good to see you decided to take it slow. That makes a lot of sense. Wait until one is a bit more comfortable with the streets before wandering out there. Good idea. I have "forced it" in this hobby in the past, or gone places outside the comfort level and that often lead to trouble. So good for you.

Perhaps as one gains experience and has time to follow the SW threads, one will build confidence to wonder into that arena? Good luck!

BTW, there was some discussion on one of the Philly threads, in the last year or so, about mongering from a taxi-cab. Quite a lively discussion, if I recall. Bottom line was a control issue: give that control to a cabbie that might be as bad as giving it over to the streets as well. Also recall that the perspective of "on foot" mongering was also discussed. So no need to read the thread. What possibly could be there?

But I thought of something first. Is it even remotely wise and / or safe to "date" without a car? I can see the clear advantages (mobility, convenience, protection if used correctly) And I'm in a really sucky neighborhood so while I could probably find a SW without a problem, I'm lonely-ish (almost everything else you could think of to make one consider the hobby) but not that suicidal. Plus if the answer is no, I suppose I could go the strip club route.
