Posts: 13634A towel cabinet must have doors on it? What's that all about?

Well I am NOT a lawyer, so this may be WAAAAY off base. But just curious about one thing. City council can establish criteria and legislation to govern how a business operates. But, they have to take it to a voter referendum to determine what types of businesses are allowed to operate within the jurisdiction. I made that as a statement, but it really is meant as a question. Is that right? Which if correct, is a pretty sh-ty way for elected officials to determine what businesses their constituency wants. I know it doesn't really matter in the end as I agree most AMPs will simply pack up and leave.

Posts: 111Undergarments must be worn? Ha. That's a civil rights lawsuit waiting to happen."Excuse me miss, you have to pull up your skirt so I can check your undergarments". Geez. And I wouldn't even go to a legit massage place and give them my address. I guess they just want to hurt the whole massage industry as if our economy needs that.

Posts: 201Just want to make sure I go there with the right info. So FS is 60 + 160 or when you say 160 total that's everything?

Posts: 226What about a red 40w bulb, or a 40w bulb covered by a shade, or a bulb on a dimmer, or on the other hand a 7w LED that puts out 60w equivalent, etc, etc? Sorry, I'm just thinking like a lawyer. As for the "completely clothed" part, I'm guessing that the therapist won't disrobe until after the deal has been sealed in the room, and then will keep the lab coat handy in case there's a bust. But you are right that most spas won't bother to fight this. Most will be harassed and eventually will leave, which is the whole purpose of the bill.

Posts: 13634Yeah, it's ripe for abuse. Still curious what "completely clothed" means. What's the difference between light output and wattage? It's a nuance at best. AMP owners aren't likely to be defiant and fight this stuff. They'll simply pack up and leave for a friendlier county or perhaps city.

Posts: 226There's either sloppy reporting on the bill or crafting of the bill by the council. The article says that customers also have to be "completely clothed" while services are being rendered. No way! It also says that each room must be lit be a 40w bulb, when what they really are trying to regulate is light output, not wattage. Most laws at the local (and often state) level are written by amateurs. Sloppy laws just invite uneven enforcement and abuse by the system. This is what keeps lawyers in business.

Posts: 13634I got pretty much the same response when I would go to the Viet coffee shop on Buford Hwy, if it's still there. I think the real action starts in a back room after hours when the place closes to the public. No way can the coffee shops generate enough revenue from coffee and snacks. If you want a Viet woman, you're probably better off hitting on one at a hair or nail salon who's a little older and has a couple of kids.

Posts: 13634I think the requirement that all employees obtain city work permits is going to be a killer for the AMPs. I also wonder what they mean by "completely clothed." No bikinis?

Posts: 226I've also been on the quest for a Viet masseuse or provider for some time but have had no luck. There used to be a large number of Viet coffee houses in the Chamblee area. Several of them had real dimes working as hostesses. When I was in the area, I'd often stop for a coffee and enjoy a nice iced coffee with a little eye candy. The clientele were small groups of Viet guys playing cards and smoking. I could never figure out how these places stayed in business just selling a few coffees. I figured they must be fronts for other sorts of activities. A couple of times I was able to get the waitresses into a conversation. One of these was a professional model. She got out her portfolio book to show me. Usually, though, I just got a cold shoulder. The staff and customers were suspicious of non-Viets and everyone was waiting for me to leave. I've noticed that most of these places are closed now. The ones that are still open don't have the hot young hostesses anymore. My guess is that there's an underground network of some kind that goes by word of mouth in the Viet community.
