I've been reading about how some of the SW's will take your keys, and hold them for ransom, or set you up for worse. It occurs to me that this situation could be foiled fairly easily (or at least slow them down a bunch). How about outfitting your car with a supply of zipstraps long enough to fit through your keyring and around the steering column, and some dykes (wire cutters to remove quickly)? I realize that this won't work for all cars, due to design differences, but I'm thinking that you could think of some other way to keep this from happening. (Like maybe a duplicate set of keys) Only put your car keys on the ring that you have in the ignition. No house keys or other "important" keys. That way, she only gets a set of keys. If you're really concerned about it, after it happens, you can then DRIVE into the dealer / locksmith, and have the locks changed. A tire thumper (like the semi drivers use to check the air pressure in their tires) wouldn't be a bad idea either. Just don't get caught with it in the passenger compartment, as it could be construed as a "concealed weapon", if the cop wants to jack you up. Just my two cents worth.

So I took a stroll down Fort, saw a few WSW but it looked a bit shady being that there where people hiding in the shadows close by. Pretty much gave up and kept going. So I spent about a month in Windsor, Ontario and snuck over to Detroit a few times; not long enough to really do much of anything. What's funny is, for years everyone's told me these horror stories about Detroit and Grand River Ave and at least when I was downtown, I saw nothing. It was like any other medium sized, older city that doesn't have a whole lot going on downtown. Windsor, on the other hand, kind of threw me for a loop. I was expecting (since the strip joints are a lot more risque) a much more 'live and let live' attitude more action, etc. Not much. Just a couple of adult entertainment spots downtown; a massage / sauna on one of the main streets downtown. But I got to ask the locals a few things.

In Windsor (or Detroit) are there a lot of fake storefronts? I did pass by a couple of places that had 'sauna' advertised on the outside but I didn't see anything or any posting of hours or anything. And no mention of it on here either.

Since I was mostly on foot (I took the Tunnel Bus over and back) and I never really saw 'those awful parts of Detroit'. Where are they? I had no problems finding my way around downtown, but there was nothing going on! I kind of wanted to venture into the neighborhoods, but didn't want to seem like someone from out of town so I didn't have the guts to ask the cab drivers (they seem to know everything) etc.

And (sorry to sound naive) does 'common sense' pretty much apply to Detroit? Is the crime rate really as bad as people say, or is it like other places where, if you're looking for it, you'll find it, and if you're just doing your own thing people pretty much leave you alone? I did get the sense that. I think it was near the Greyhound Depot (I couldn't tell if it was closed or still in operation. I just saw the sign) you could walk for blocks and see nothing besides boarded up buildings and houses. How far from downtown does this start?

Needless to say I didn't have any luck when I was out there, and I should have 'done my homework' before I left here. I have to say I was a little disappointed with the lack of selection or signs of life in Windsor. As I was leaving the guy next to me was saying that Toronto is a whole 'nother story completely but I didn't get a chance to go there.

Thoughts? Would like some local advice; I'm coming back to Windsor soon. Thanks guys.

Mined Casey in the Triangle.

Overall she is ideal. About 5'-6" or so, really thin maybe 90lbs or so and a clip-on blond hair-do. Flap-Jack thin. She could carry small talk and had business sense. An overall "niceness".

About a week ago before old man Winter set his sights on the game I hit the streets. Rode around for a couple of hours to the usual spots with little to no activity (well at least activity that I wasn't interested in). John R was spotty, the East Side (Harper) was a ghost town, Fort Street had several low pro's, missed out on a nice young tender (rare) on Woodward and Fenkell was quiet.
