Well, I would argue it wasn't the pandemic that caused inflation to hit a 40-year high, it was the government response to the pandemic that caused it. When you flood the economy with trillions of dollars and, at the same time, supply chains are broken because you needlessly shut down the global economy, that will cause inflation to rise sky-high.

Too many dollars chasing too few goods = high inflation. That's Economics 101. But that's what happens when no one in the government understands basic economics.

Actually Trump is known for tightening restrictions such as visas. He did it while in office he even said he stopped travel from China to the USA, on the other hand Biden in a way did limit travel from Russia to the USA. Sorry forgot to add a final point. I just think it's a cash grab on Ooyu's part, taking advantage of people's FOMO because of her limited work stay and relying on new or ignorant mongers unaware of her past incarnations. It's a false correlation to equate higher price with better quality. I mean, yeah, it should be but it's not always the case. Experiments of people asked to evaluate cheap items masquerading as high end products perfectly illustrates this point.

Whether we just want to fool ourselves into thinking that we have the ability to distinguish nice things or don't want to face our own inadequacies, marketed quality and perceived scarcity is a trip. I'll be first in line to admit that I'm not immune to it also. I've fucked up multiple times mixing up what I want to see versus what my gut is saying.
