The long qtip is to send to a lab and either identify the bacteria or identify the best antibiotic.
The end result is you'll be given antibiotics if something comes up either way. But in the first case if you are positive for a) but negative for b) they will have to kind of guess and give you more than one antibiotic. Which should work anyways. Hope that helps.

If you are showing symptoms, you may get cultured with the long swab down your urethra. This is because the pee tests are not perfect but the swab test should be.
NGUs are a problem because they are a tell with a new partner like in my case. Though if I had been mature I would have truthfully explained I got it from sex long before I met her and there was no cheating. But I was in my early 20s and chickened out so the relationship petered out after that. Lesson learned I just get treated proactively when I end up in bb land before eventually quitting. As my other posts have shown, make sure your condom is pulled down so it doesn't slip off after ejaculation (happened 1 time in 200 times of sex with condom).

As I've said, pee tests only check the more serious bacterial STDs. You're likely to have some other bacterial infection. As a free guy, that won't matter until you find a new partner. At which point you want to get treated with multi-antibacterials as a high risk individual (done it 3 times). It doesn't matter that the bacterial infection is often harmless, the symptoms cause a UTI and is a tell. Officially diagnosed as an NGU where after sex with your partner they will soon (0-3 weeks) feel sick and have a UTI. Women react a lot more than men to them. Had exactly that scenario as I've told the story before, 3 years after going to TJ (only bb 1 girl) then passing it to a new girlfriend. Peed negative for Chlamydia and Gonorrohea but there's 8-12 other bacteria that can cause irritation.
If you are not a free guy and in a long-term relationship, you need to be no-bb or else stop sex with your partner completely. Do not resume until you are completely treated even if you are negative for the big ones. Speaking from 20 years of experience dealing with this.
Honestly the fear and paranoia is half the problem. There are times when a simple yeast infection or yeast-based balantis will make you deathly afraid, even though it is just a consequence of age and pre-diabetes (in the case of yeast infection where you pee some sugar and don't clean so it grows yeast fast). Yeast infections are technically not STDs even though they are proven to sometimes spread sexually. Been there. Antibacterials have no effect on yeast which are fungi. Just pee/wash after sex, wash after peeing (if you are diabetic).
If I pee completely negative on tests, I will still get treated for generic bacterial stds, either at the clinic or online prescription. I've used callondoc but there are others. Online prescription are pill so you don't get the shot version, pills are 98% as good but not the gold standard. However if I am fully negative then that's good enough because there are no tests for NGU (it is diagnosed by symptoms and swab+culture but never actually identified for the patient)

I'm due for testing and just placed my order. I selected the 10 panel and looked for mgen. It was still listed at $139. I continued without it and then as I was checking out, it prompted me for additional tests. At that point it was $79.

10 panel is $139 and m gen is $139. Expensive, but the convenience is worth it to me. Also, I only do it every 3-4 months since I primarily stick to a few regulars and they test monthly.
