At one point in time, there were a ton of nice places in Irvine near JWA on Skypark. Those days sadly have passed, Irvine rolled them all up. As far as I know, there isn't a single MP in Irvine (I mean, I am sure there are, but below the radar, and I'm not privy to any intel saying otherwise).

Would be nice to see Irvine return to those times.

This comment has me pining for OK Acupressure on Skypark. Installed a LOT of pipe there in the 1990's. Shower before. Do the work. Shower after. Back to the job site.

SGV most definitely. Valley Blvd is like Westminster Blvd -- if there's a MP on Valley, they offer a full menu. And there's lot of places on Valley. Lots of other places in the area, too. And plenty of AAMPs.

It has nothing to do with tax base. Massage is a service, and services aren't taxable in CA. Besides that, most of the hobby MPs are evading taxes anyway, not even following labor law and properly paying their staff which means they aren't even paying payroll taxes. It's all about the image the city wants to make for itself and what the residents want, property values and such. Cerritos is a city where someone will call the cops if you fart in their general direction, and the cops will show up.

Years ago, and we're talking 30 or so years ago, I was living in Downey and I spent a day on a ride along with a Downey PD cop. He actually showed me every AMP in town and pointed out all the identifying features. The neon open sign, the blacked out windows, the open late at night hours, etc. He said they know exactly what happens in there, but it's contained so they don't really care. As long as it isn't a public nuisance or drawing complaints it's there and they can monitor it. If they break it up it just drives what's happening in there to the cheap motels where there's other stuff like drug deals going on, so it's more of a laissez faire mentality. Other cities just don't want it around at any cost. All of those same Downey AMPs are still in business today.

I can speak about HB specifically. The owners usually draw the attention of the city when they apply for a business license. They ask questions from their application and if there is any flags or things that don't add up they get put on notice. They will even send people to the place to see if what they claim they are doing (I. E. Nails for example) is indeed what is going on or if they offer other services on top of that. As mentioned above, they go off of complaints as well. Draw too much attention and it forces the cities hand to act. They also know when owners try and get someone to open the business under a family member or friend. Not sure if HB will be going the Irvine route per se, but they are making it harder for these places to open up.

I could be wrong, but I've always been of the opinion that cities with a decent tax base (ie. Cerritos has the auto mall for instance), don't need the business.

Plus just the public image in some cities such as Irvine, wants to have a squeaky clean image - "best places to live" and all that jazz.

Perhaps I'm oversimplifying, but other cites that don't have such a tax base, say a GG, will look the other way as some business is better than none.

So bottom line, I don't even bother with cities that have manicured lawns, I go for the weed infested areas with chain link fencing around yards.

Irvine, Costa Mesa, Cerritos, Huntington Beach are all very, very tough on massage establishments. Out of that list, Costa Mesa is hands down the toughest.

Is this new for Costa Mesa? I've been to several AMPs in Costa Mesa, although not recently. Costa Mesa was even home to the 440 Fair Dr building which was basically like walking through the red light district in the United States.

Stopped by Believe yesterday. Plans with my ATF in San Gabriel fell through, so went to plan B and C.

First time at Believe. Texted the place and they had Jojo and Coco working. I think it was Coco who answered the door. Asked for Jojo. I believe she has a following here. She has a tat on her abdomen, not sure if that's the same Jojo you all know. Decent service. DFK, BBBJ, multiple positions and blew in the bag. Decent service, just not what I'm used to I guess so wasn't all that impressed, but she will do in a pinch. Top it off, she's only $10 more than Linda at the flower place. She's here for 10 days, so have at it boys. She works in SD too at some of the popular spots but said she was taking some time off to rest after her current stint.

You're on track. The city is pretty straight. Cerritos even has parking restrictions in neighborhood. You cannot park your car on a residential street overnight unless you have a valid resident parking sticker that you must apply and pay for.

Cerritos is actually in the 562 area code so it's not in Orange County. It's more like the Long Beach area.

They even harass legit massage places with a bunch of ridiculous regulations. CM is the city that has the "inward looking peephole" rule, which is just absurd and a lawsuit waiting to happen. What happens when a male employee takes advantage of the opportunity to peep on a female client undressing? Or a male code enforcement worker doing a "random inspection?" Cerritos allows legit massage places and doesn't bother them much once they're established, but the second one of them steps out of line and gives even a remote hint of anything other than fully legit massage going on it's an entirely different story.

What is my source? I own a legit massage business. I won't say if it is or isn't in any of the aforementioned cities, but it doesn't have to be. I talk to owners of other legit spas in other cities literally every day and am very much familiar with what goes on behind the scenes in the industry. As I mentioned, there's reasons why some cities have an abundance of "hobby MPs" and some don't. Cities like Stanton, Bellflower, Downey, Westminster, and GG tolerate them to a certain extent so long as they aren't a public nuisance and drawing a lot of complaints. Cities like Cerritos and Costa Mesa don't want that on their turf and will stop at nothing to keep it out. I won't tell anybody on here to not go to any particular shop, but I will say that this place in Cerritos is firmly on the city's radar after being around only a very short period of time, so visiting it would be a bit of a dicey proposition. There's enough nearby places that are far more established and a lot less risky to go to.
