Every time I've skulked around LC, EA and STG (LC seems the most egregious among the three), I've marveled at how many obviously fake ads are posted and wondered why on earth they don't just automatically delete them and ban the posters. Until I read your post, I'd just figured they were of the "too lazy to care" mindset (because filtering those fakes is trivially simple, to the point I'm tempted to write a browser plugin to handle it automatically. LOL imagine trying to post *that* for public use).

But this video (and your post) fills in a useful piece of the puzzle. These site operators *know* there's lots of spam, and they *do* actually care about it (because it undoubtedly does actually help curtail genuine posts and searches), but they also understand that if they automate detection and removal, the groups deliberately posting fake ads "for everyone's safety" will just switch up their game and do something more difficult to detect (though I personally don't believe there's a way to fool an adequately-trained ML model watching images, words, emoji, date / time patterns, IP addresses, etc. -- at least not in any way they'd be willing to devote enough resources to do correctly).
