Not sure which I hate more. At least the shills we got the list figured out for the most part. I just don't get it when guys play the victim all stink because they were never told this or that, neva told about a credit card fee, that shit is common knowledge. Just Be up front with these girls and ask the questions, tell them what you want. Know what you are paying for up front. Be polite and respectful and the majority of these girls are great. If you don't like the cost walk away. Don't assume anything! If you have personal problems don't threaten to report and call INS on these hard working girls call Dr. Phil. I respond to ad's with fake pictures on occasion, If I don't like I walk a way. A few times I was OK with it because I got along really well with the girl anyway. The problem with looking at it through this lens is that you're not accounting for how changes in behavior due to covid likely reduced deaths in other ways. For example our influenza deaths in 2020 were way down compared to other years because of distancing and masking. We had less car accidents than other years because less people were on the road. So just because the change in total number of deaths didn't correspond 1:1 with the number of people who died from covid, that's because it was likely offset by changes in behavior that saved lives in other ways. There are plenty of countries who didn't do much to shut down their economies. It's a global economy. This was a global pandemic. Any disruptions in the supply chain in any of the countries were going to disrupt the global economy.

The problem with looking at it through this lens is that we don't even know how many people actually died from COVID, whereas we DO know how many people died in 2020 compared to other years. If I'm 75 years old, living in a care home, and I die with COVID present in my body, did COVID really kill me? Maybe it did. Maybe it didn't. Maybe I live to 95. Maybe I would have died a day later from a stroke or something completely unaffiliated with a COVID infection. Considering the fact that the elderly population comprises a large bloc of COVID deaths, it goes to show that COVID death reporting is already suspect as so many things could have killed them in that year. My grandfather was a fully-functional 80 year-old man. He fell, basically turned into a 'vegetable', and died within 6 months. This was before COVID, but if he had it, was it truly a COVID death?

Secondly, for the same reason you can speculate on the number of lives "saved" through COVID countermeasures, I can say those countermeasures also killed people. Like admin2 says, poverty will kill, but that's not all. Cuomo literally caused 1,000's of COVID deaths by turning care-homes into death camps. Doctors who didn't know what they were doing were killing people by putting them on ventilators. Others committed suicide when they discovered they had a COVID infection. Poor testing procedures killed patients who may have been turned away from a hospital for capacity restrictions. Others may have died waiting for treatment and were not properly triaged. Rich people may have received priority over the poor, causing cases to artificially rise in high-density, low-income areas.

You see, once we get on this 'train', the divergent possibilities are endless. It's better to just look at the plain death numbers to see if the response was appropriate. It was not. For me to believe what you are saying, you must illustrate how 4 million non-COVID lives were saved through the various COVID responses. Basically, show me how heart disease, cancer, 'accidents', non-COVID chronic respiratory diseases, stroke, poverty, etc. (the leading causes of death) were all 'solved' for with COVID responses and reduced to near zero , as these cause around 80-90% of all deaths worldwide. Then, and only then, we can look at how significant COVID killing an additional 4 million people is, that would otherwise not have died in 2020 from something else. It is true, we may have possibly saved a few million lives with stay-at-home orders for the reasons you have listed, but as I've already pointed out, they do not comprise a statistically significant amount of lives when compared to annual death toll, the presence of COVID, and the fallout of what is a massive overreaction.

We have more than enough food to provide for everyone on this planet. The shutdown isn't the issue, the issue is the money at the top refuses to budge and our shitty society is structured that way. This is why shit isn't going back to normal despite the vaccine and everything else. Our whole society has been revealed as unsustainable plutocracy.

Main hurdles here when discussing this internationally are unstable governments and lack of distribution and infrastructure. Somewhere around 2. 5% of the population needs to be "farmers" to sustain humanity. However, dealing with unstable governments and all the other problems makes humanitarian efforts exceedingly difficult. While we could ship a ton of food to a poverty-ridden or closed state, the chance that the food actually gets there, is edible, and is sufficiently dispersed is almost 0%. Even in America, getting people in poverty to eat healthy is a difficult challenge in itself. Public health experts have tried injecting healthy, cost-efficient options, but they are not accepted in most cases. I wish it were as simple as being able to "grow enough food". There are a lot of barriers and that is an understatement.
