Posts: 631The Mile Road designation was assigned first. Six Mile was renamed McNichols in northwest Detroit for the University of Detroit president who moved the school from downtown to Six Mile and Livernois. The name change took place after he died in 1932. It has nothing to do with suburbs "distancing" themselves from Detroit.

The Mile Road System extended easterly into Detroit, but is interrupted, because much of Detroit's early settlements and farms were based on early French land grants that were aligned northwest-to-southeast with frontage along the Detroit River and on later development along roads running into downtown Detroit in a star pattern, such as Woodward, Jefferson, Grand River, Gratiot, and Michigan Avenues, developed by Augustus Woodward in imitation of Washington, D. C. 's system. As Detroit grew, several Mile Roads were given new names within the city borders, while some roads incorporated as part of the Mile Road System have traditionally been known by their non-mile names. It is unclear if they ever bore mile numbers formally.

Posts: 694It was McNichols first, the suburbs changed the name to 6 mile to distance themselves from the city of Detroit. The suburbs did it with a lot of streets, Ford road / Mcgraw, 5 mile / Fenkell, etc.

McNichols is often referred to as Six Mile, though it isn't Six Mile until west of Beech Daly. Many roads in Detroit are referred to by their numerical equivalent; Fenkell is often called 5 Mile Rd. On the east side Cadieux and Moross are often called 6 and 7 Mile roads, even though they are not on the same plane, they turn into them.

Need to throw in my two cents here. Completely agree Mya is an absolute sweetheart. She needed to go to the mall which I had to pass on my way home so I offered to take her and drop her off. Ended up taking her in and doing some lingerie shopping at Victoria's Secret with her. So of course wanted to go back and see her in the outfits, we made it back to her place and played around for an additional half hour. Absolute sweetheart! Treat her right guys!

I second that! She saved you some cash. I saw her twice before COVID. She's hot, but she doesn't do HE. Also, she's definitely NOT an escort, she only advertises for body rub and even that was subpar.

Posts: 731It becomes "McNichols" at EB Telegraph but it's still referred as 6 Mile Rd by many just as 5 Miles Rd is referenced to Fenkell. It's overall in reference to the other mile roads north of them.

Posts: 631McNichols and Six Mile are simply two names for the same road. It was Six Mile first, then renamed for a former president of the University of Detroit.

Posts: 60Add says "6 and dequindre". Doesn't six mile turn into McNichol? Is that what it should say?
