For the same reason hookers use multiple ads on different sites with different numbers. When things go south, and they often do, they just scrub the ad where they got called or reported for robbing or bait-switching a john, and just move on to their next ad. See Post #915 here as a classic example. Several disposable numbers using free apps give you flexibility. And do you really want Verizon keeping a log of all your hobbying activities?
