This is great advice. I would have avoided my bad experience with Ash had I followed this. I like how you boiled it down, but let me add a little bit if I may. I think a lot of folks succumb to the fallacy of sunk cost. So, if they ask for a Mountain Dew, or you find out that the notel is a garbage dump, you start rationalizing it by saying, "Well, I've already come this far. ", or "I'll miss out on a date if I bail", etc. So, the basic idea is even if you have invested time and effort, it's already invested and can't be recovered. Continuing to go forward with a bad time just because you have invested already doesn't make sense.
