Why? Because, the folks that are really in control of the escort trade here are the drug dealers. They get the girls started on hard drugs and put them out on the street to earn the money to support their habits, they will give you mechanical service, steal from you, or have a pimp / dealer bust in on you. And then the girls become good customers for the dealers. They sell 40 dollar lolli pop specials and 60 dollar quick visits just to get enough money for their drug habit and to pay for a cheap hotel room. At these prices these providers need to do three to five sessions a day just to survive. Do the math.

I personally don't want to be the 5th guy in line after a hard day at the office.

I travel extensively and this area is totally different. The missing link is there are no escort agencies here. Say what you want about an agency, but in other cities where they abound the agencies control the escorts and if the escorts steal, use drugs, or other misdemeanors, agencies dump them and they are out on the street. In Dallas, Denver, Salt Lake, Kansas City, I only use an agency. I have had agencies send out a complimentary replacement provider if I have a legitimate complaint. That will never happen here.

Downside to an agency is they usually cost more.

I used to live in Dallas before moving to Greensboro, the area here is not so good for mongering. Too many ghetto girls, GPS and low quality providers and the good ones can be counted with the fingers on one hand.
