I assume that most veteran mongers use some sort of app to avoid using your actual phone number for texts and calls in this hobby. The app that I've been using for years has become too unreliable to continue using and I've been unable to find a reliable replacement.

So, if you have a reliable app (on iOS) then please share your recommendations (or PM me). I'm looking for an app that provides the following:

- a phone number.

- texting functionality / service.

- the ability to lock or secure the phone number (ie through payment) to avoid losing it.

- registration only requires an email address.

- doesn't require that I provide a real phone number.

- doesn't require any personal info for validation or registration.

Google Voice is too intrusive, and aggregates and merges too much information to be used for this hobby.

You technically need a passport to cross back to the USA, but you will get through with minimal or no hassle if you have your drivers' license. But much better to have the Passport (or the DL sized "North America Passport Card" which costs minimally extra when you get a passport) to avoid the unlikely possibility that you will be detained for who knows how long it takes for Customs to be assured that you are a USA Citizen or otherwise have the right to cross north.

If you walk across into Mexico, then Mexican Customs will charge you a few bucks for a short term tourist credential. So far, this is not being enforced if you drive across.

The primary hooker zone where HK is located (there are actually a few different red light districts scattered throughout this vast Metropolis) is as you say "compact" once you get there.
