When you give Tineye an image to search its database against, it does use a similarity algorithm to locate possible matches to that "target" image. It will find not only exact copies of the target image, but similar images, e.g. a differently-cropped version of the original image from which the target image was made. A good example of this is to Tineye the images our "older is better" neighbor Keri Diamonds uses on her ads. On a few of them, you can find the original image without its head cropped off (try the one in red bikini lingerie, with ass to the camera.)

(I think it's a hoot that she's overlayed "©KeriDiamonds. Com" on most of her website's images, since all the ones she did it to are stolen from various porn sites!)

But the key here is that Tineye must already have the reference info for each "matching" image (s) in it's database when you present it with a target image to look up. It doesn't - and cannot - go out searching the web in real time for matches to each image presented to it. What Tineye is saying when you present it with an image to find is,"I've scanned thru all the images in my database, and found XX images that are similar based on my comparison algorithm. Here those images are, along with the web site URL that I found each one on."

My take on fscott's comment about e-mail was a warning to the guys. I believe he was saying that the girls use their regular e-mail for contacting SDs, without realizing how much anonymity they give up. If "sororitygirl69" turns out to have the e-mail address "kristin.davis88@ucla.edu", you have a whole bunch of information about her that she might not have wanted you to know: her real name, where she goes (or went) to school, and possibly even her age.

Have you noticed that the majority of Tineye's results come from domains other than. COM. NET (meaning they're mostly outside the US) , and the links are often broken? Most sites here in the US store images on secure servers where crawlers can't reach them, and that's especially true of sites with well-known privacy expectations like Facebook. Hell, Facebook recently started using a Java applet to display a user's full-sized images so (among other reasons) you can no longer right-click to save a local copy of the image.

The only saving grace is that most of the US-based sites that offer hot-young-lingerie-model or girls-gone-wild type pics are for-pay and and tightly controlled, and most hookers aren't going to shell out the membership fee just to steal photos, so they end up going to those open offshore sites that Tineye can crawl.

So by all means use Tineye as a tool, but recognize that like most tools it is suitable only for a limited set of purposes.

With this in mind, I have changed my initial contact strategy, from just a "wink" to a short message, using some of their own language, and volunteering a few things about myself as well. Gold mine! I have upped my response to contact rate significantly, and in fact feel confident that three or four babies currently on the line would consent to come to the net when I can arrange my schedule to land them.

This is in line with my experienced when I went with the softer, gentler approach. My response rate went way up. I was able to bang one but it appears I may have lost two due to scheduling issues. Here is what I have learned: the guys with no picture I don't even look at. There are just too many emails. Ditto "winks", which on the site I'm on, Seeking A*ngement, is a quick, informal way to shoot a contact to someone. Just too many to go through. There are others, however, that show that the person has read my "profile" by incorporating some of that language into their message. I could imagine that those are effective. Shows you care!
