I would hope my previous reply to you was quite geographically explicit enough for you to find what you want on the K. For those of you who thought this was TOO specific and alerts LE? Don't be so naive as to think any LEO who patrols the Ave doesn't know all of this already. Maybe its because cooky and super make it sound like a cakewalk but three forays and I've have to say It's Not. Any input on these issues would be appreciated:

1) Can't tell the pros from civilians. Just when you think you've found a SW, you see she is with a guy or, in my case once, a baby carriage. Believe me guys, the pics help but from a distance. I mean how do you tell?

2) What is the stroll? I've been just driving up underneath the "L" train and eventually it becomes Kensington, but on my best day I saw four 'maybe"s. Am I just off on the geography? Its not like I can put this into my gps.

This is a subject that has been covered many times in this forum with many excellent suggestions, so I won't belabor them all here. I suggest you read the forum very carefully and look for words such as "spotting" or "pick up" or "finding."

However, I don't believe either Cooky or I ever made this process sound like a "cakewalk." If you expect to drive a few times up and down the K and find dozens of prime SWs clearly identifiable, and ready to jump into your car then you will be sadly disappointed. You have to be patient, hard working and lucky.

BadBoy gave you some good advice in response to your questions, but a few things I have said before are worth re-emphasizing for novices:

1) Telling civilians from SWs: If you really want to be safe then stick to known SW pick-up corners and strolls: 1. All the corners north from Westmoreland to Erie; SWs will often be also walking between these corners or back on Jasper north of Venango. 2. The Cambria corner and near the Woodshed 3. The Huntingdon Station and the few blocks south of it, especially Letterly back to Jasper. There are obviously other corners and areas along the K where one can find a few SWs, but, in my experience, 80-90% of them can be found where I designated. At least this is my daytime experience. Other mongers may have a different experience to share for after dark.

If you see a girl and want to make sure she is a SW then look for the following: she will be looking into cars, meeting your gaze, smiling, sometimes even waving or gesturing; civilians just don't do that. If she is just walking up the street and you aren't sure, you can drive just ahead and motion for her to follow you as you turn; if she doesn't she either is a civilian or a SW who just isn't interested for whatever reason. Another technique I sometimes use is to drive ahead a block or so, pull in, get out and start walking back towards her, say hello, and ask her if she is looking for a ride. If she is, there is an extremely high likelihood she is a SW, and I tell her I am pulling around the corner and to follow me there to get in; I NEVER pick up or let off a SW on the K; I feel it is just too much risk of being spotted by LE and hassled).

2) The K stroll? That's an easy one: From Erie and Kensington in the north and south to where Kensington intersects with Front Street. Occasionally this includes Jasper as I have noted above.

3) Etiquette? If I see 3 suspected SWs jabbering away to one another (which would be a rarity; most SWs work solo), I pull over or around the corner within sight. If they really are SWs the most aggressive one will soon be over to your window. If you want one of the others, it is an easy matter to tell her. This approach is true for any suspected SW. If she is working she will be on the lookout for cars pulling over nearby. If she looks in your direction, give a wave or gesture, and, if she is a SW, she will bee-line it to your car.
