Thanks for the update. I missed the action by a few hours as you pointed out. But my experience in this game tells me that the girls will be back out regardless. Addiction always wins and their need to fund it. I didn't find the area that dangerous even at 2 am. The shooting you reported is a very isolated incident, and involved people who knew one another. Not saying something can't happen to an innocent bystander, but it's very low probability. The dope boys want to sell product, the girls need their fixes, and mongers provide the money. No dope boy is looking to bring this little economy to a stand-still. My advice to anyone contemplating this stroll is to just drive through like you belong there. The odds of this shooter beefing with you would be a statistical anomaly. The stroll is solid for decent talent, and I found it far better than S. Broadway or MLK/ Wells. I'm in STL every few months and look forward to reporting more.

While back in town a few weeks ago I toured the South Broadway Stroll. The weather was nice and hookers were plentiful. They may not have been be the best looking hookers but the stroll was thriving. He's stilll running loose, at least as of yesterday according to friends who live there.

That long block of Farlin just off Newstead & Tayor/Camella is the center of gravity for the street-life business there, as the primary 'go-to' place where they all head to get their 'prescriptions' filled; and the homicidal nutjob dude who did it was a player in that curbside 'pharmacy' business. Some of the most street hardened gals that ever lived who are are generally afraid of nuttin and nobody anywhere ever, are now terrified, as well as very emotionally affected, as she was quite popular and particularly well liked within that hard-scabble subculture of SWs that is normally prettty catty toward each other.

And then, a few days after the event the son came back to the scene and shot up the street. Police have since brought in a quite a few of their mobile cameras and devices, for example the one you'll see with the blinking lights on top they've parked on Margaretta near the alley that's normally used by foot traffic going to Farlin, and a buch of others. This would be a peculiar time to be cruising there, especially tor those who are unfamilar with it, most especially some of the ridiculously conspicuous indiscrete individuals here (and EVERYBODY & their mama will know & take note of the "don't belong" presence; oh yes they will). And I expect it will likely be be that way for a while. I'd suggest giving it a rest for now; not a good time to be a tourist, or if you must then avoid the narrower most exclusively local trafficked side streets. Especially Farlin which is a very narrow one-way with no possible turn-around to bug out, and is often effectively blocked for cars trying to get through by the runners for a dope house often using it as an open air market where they informally "own" a piece of "their" pavement.

For the the lurkers who know the city, the SW / mom who got butchered last weekend was the gal in her 40's who was widely known as "Gigi" (street name not her real name).

Thanks for the info! I'm certain my car is conspicuous there and my driving indiscrete. And I know what you mean about Farlin because I drove right through there. It reminded me of a scene in Black Hawk Down. And the hoops game I interrupted while driving down another side street, seemed like it did include a few guys taking note about my presence, now that I think about it. Hmm.

Are you saying I shouldn't have been backing up when I overran an intersection, pulling three (or more) point uturns left and right, or honking at the rude, slow pedestrians crossing outside the marked crosswalk areas?

And. Newstead Ave between Natural Bridge and Lee Ave was hoping last night and this morning. Check all the side streets as the trap is on Farlin Ave. There were prob 10 girls out between 10 p and 2 am with easy pickup. Met 19 yr old blond German girl named Payton. Traveling and wanted to report on the other stroll since Broadway always gets reviewed. It's a gold mine especially early morning like 7 am to 830 am on Wells & MLK from Goodfellows to Arlington. Lots of cheap talent. Damage was 40 for both these girls. One I had met a few times and had digits. The other was new.

Many thanks to the city, state, whoever for repaving the South Broadway stoll from Bates to the River des Peres. The road is in much better shape now. It was difficult cruising while the work was in progress, but now I can spend more time looking for the ladies than watching out for potholes!
