Happened to be in Philly yesterday. Drove around from 12 to 5 pm with breaks to check out Camden. All I saw were REALLY creepy zombies of various ages, colors, and shapes. I remember 3-4 years ago things were different. Is this the new status quo? Can something decent (skinny under 35 and NOT a zombie) still be found? I don't mind putting in the hours to look. Should I rethink my trip next week?

I agree, I cruised Kensington for a couple hours yesterday afternoon in while it was hot / humid, there wasn't a single option that I could choose from. Some of them look so bad That I can't believe a single person would stop for them. My wallet and balls were full and I really wanted to spend the money, but I just couldn't do it because I couldn't find a single option that was presentable.

I have to openly wonder if the days of Kensington are behind us, if that's all they got, I'm not planning on going back.

Is there a reason for you recommending this hotel? Seems a good distance from Kensington. Something we should know?

I wasn't there so I don't have all the answers, but it seems to me that you could've found a different place to park. I go way out of my way to insure my safety in this hobby. When I first hit Kensington, I spent a good part of my time mapping or a place to go. My own criteria is it should be out-of-the-way, preferably a one-way street and I shouldn't be the only car on the street, I always park with ample room to back up and get out or pull forward and get out so then nobody can box me in. I learned one lesson the hard way, never park in front of a door to an apartment or home cause you just don't know when the owner is going to come out.

LOL, yes, definitely will never be parking around there again. Like I said, I've used that area before and never had I expected someone to roll up on me the way that guy did. I definitely need to go back and map out that neighborhood better in my mind, especially with all the one-ways and alleys and such.

Like I said, it's so extensive that I have used several different spots before when I'm on that stroll, depending on where the pickup happens. But if I do go back in the future I will definitely have a better plan. I have my favorite spots along other strolls I have frequented, but as time passes, foot traffic (and other traffic, gentrification, etc.) definitely shifts things and causes me to go back to ground zero when planning my activities and experiment with other spots. This one was just the scariest experience I've ever had, with an entirely uncalled-for car chase to boot. In the end, I guess its a small price to pay for the, ummm, small price we pay, if you will.
