Posts: 398I've been driving through a section of 84 that has signs posted about a camera being tested.

I just completed my one sided trip down to Florida and I can tell you that some places have camera position in such as way that they can capture everything inside the front seats. This has its pros and cons with the pros being more people still holding their device and reading and typing while they are zig zagging on the highway at 70 mph. I think they have one of these type of cameras being tested on I-84 E.

Sadly true based on what you see in the news. Spoke to a provider once that said there was over $10 k in lawyer fees to get records sealed. That person still has other state records show up on Google from time to time so who knows how effective those lawyer fees actually are. Perhaps she's just that bad and keeps racking up new charges.
Anyone know who the good attorneys in CT and MA are for representation? Still just incentivizes going abroad more. $10 K+ is no joke for average Joes, which I fathom is still most of us.

Imagine they put them on the highway, they could rake in like thousands per day in tickets.

Posts: 905There are speed cameras (radar detectors, traffic cameras) going up all over the state. The DOT calls it " video detection " plate readers are being installed everywhere also. If you see traffic signal work or signs, bet your balls there is a speed camera with all the newest technology.

Posts: 643This could backfire as well if the local businesses start to suffer as more and more people avoid the area.

Posts: 398More towns are installing those things. Basically no work and they bring in a ton of money. The do have to post a warning sign where they are. Take it serious. We are getting closer and closer to living in a police state.

If you are driving through Middletown on Rt 66 be mindful of the speed cameras in place. I was mailed a ticket that cost me $59 for being recorded going 11 mph over the limit. Fortunately it isn't reported to your insurance company. I have to admit it was a little unnerving getting a piece of mail with Middletown PD as the return address. I had visited a known provider who lives a few blocks off 66 a couple of weeks prior.

Technology is making this country more of a surveillance state. Got pulled over once due to a cruiser scanning my plate. I forgot to renew my plate and it showed up as expired, but still.

Posts: 650A police department appears to be able to look back on door cams pretty deeply. Look at the video from Savanna Guthries mom's door cam at her home. They have been able to pull extensive (though not complete) history. In the case of a kidnapping, it makes sense.
