I'm fairly certain as long as you don't actually go and meet them at a location they can't do anything to you. You just have to use common sense and be wary of brand new providers. Honestly their attempts to catch guys are so obvious I don't know if they do that intentionally or not. Like I could do a way better job impersonating a girl with better pictures and more realistic dialogue. I don't plan it this way but usually I'll message a girl try to get as much info as I can, basically ghost her, message her again sometime later with the same questions see if she'll send a pic, I'll repeat that process a few times if I end up pissing her off I'll just message her again with a text app. LEO doesn't have time to be sitting around for weeks with a sting setup.

It's a numbers game for them. They'll always get a few stupid enough to agree to sufficient elements of the crime and show up. The less man hours and resources required to make a few arrests the better. Then the media and politicians eat it up, and the department gets to justify their requests for budget increases.

They don't even really care if the DA can get the charges to stick. The DA knows that when you charge them with human trafficking most are going to take a plea to a lesser charge rather than risk going to trial, even if there's little chance of actually being found guilty of the much more serious charge. These days they'll add human trafficking to just about every prostitution arrest, whether it's justified or not.

I can see how they could easily link a Google voice number to your real phone, but how do they link your burner to your real phone, short of tracking you with military grade drones with emitter location systems like used against the bad guys in the sand box? My burner was bought with cash, activated using a dummy tutamail mail account under a dummy name, etc. I just want to know what I'm missing so I can be aware of the risk. I'm getting paranoid too, but more about the cameras being everywhere.

What they do is match phones that are in the same location as the burner. If you're phone is on, and with you when you use your burner, even if different cellular networks, your location is reported.

This is getting easier for them to do, I'm not sure exactly how "legal" it may be but it allows the association to be made, then they can start bothering you to see if you break.

As long as you use your burner phone and never exchange info or pics is the only way LEO can find out anything you. The only way they find out about any conversations is if they grab you at a later date and confiscate that burner phone. They can even retrieve deleted messages from the day you bought it. Best bet change phones once in a while destroy the old burner phone save your contacts, the money you spend on female company and the money you may spend on a lawyer $ 20 for a flip phone 2 times a year is cheap. Cvs or most retail stores that sell cheap phones don't keep store video very long, if you live in RI buy one in Mass and vise versa, just makes thing more difficult to track they can trace your burner number to the location it was purchased,. Unless its a serious crime I don't believe LEO can cross state lines for investigations.
