Because you are so close. You're right there. All you need is the room number or apartment number. This is where they will ask for the gift card or sending the money somehow over the phone. They will even have a nearby 7 11 or Wal Mart where you can pick up the gift card. So easy. Don't do it!! Once you send them money you will never get that room number. Just realize all you are out is time. Don't let your investment of time overrule your common sense. Don't think "I have already driven here so I will send the money. " I never lost any money but I fell for this once, arriving at a large apartment complex. Then they asked for the deposit and I just left. I lost time but not money. Don't lose money. Don't send any type of deposit or whatever they call it. Just say no.

As others said, highly likely it's a scam. But I would not pay $80 to video. I would go to her and see for myself and chance that it's a bait and switch and then leave rather than paying for a video chat.
