Sounds like you are uncomfortable for whatever reason, so just don't go. In fact, I think you might be attracting attention to yourselves. Drop by the mailbox area on your way and look like you are getting the mail if you are concerned about fitting in. Also, I think this discussion is greatly over estimating the traffic flow.
