It only works if the SB isn't a complete newbie. I've done it a handful of times over the years. Just got to play it off like she sent you her number a while back, but you were seeing someone else at the time / or taking a break from the sugar game / or whatever bullshit excuse you want to come up with for not calling her at the time, but you're interested now. And just take it from there like you would in any other situation. Not hard to play it off.
