Client "y" shows up without an appointment at 1:50 and it's full, so he gets to go sit behind the curtain in the penalty box until there's an opening. At 2:03 client "x" still hasn't arrived, but girl "a" is now free and wondering if she's been stood up. Meanwhile, client "y" has been waiting 13 minutes, and two more walkins have shown up. Everybody is tense. So girl "a" decides to go with walk in "y". At 207 client "x", the regular, shows up and says he got stuck in traffic, which is likely true on a Saturday 3 weeks from Christmas near a Costco. Tough choice for provider "a": give walk in client "y" to another provider and go with "x" even though he's late because he had an appointment and this is already your third visit with him this month? Or stay with "y" on a sort of rigid policy stance. Honestly, I think most girls are going to do what Kim did and go with the guy with an appointment. But there's no doubt it feels like an icepack on the nards for you. In 2 years I've missed out on 2 appointments at the "sister shops" when I was less than 5 minutes late, and in both cases a new girl just didn't check the name. Imperfect system, imperfect people, imperfect world. But if you call ahead and make an appointment it at least tilts the odds in your favor. But it's definitely a bummer when the system fails.
