The parking was fine and I have visited a couple providers at S8 before and haven't seen them tow any cars. I have heard of some of the M6 starting to do that. I think if you visit during the day and it's a qv or HH visit you should be good anywhere. Mostly probably looking for cars camping out later at night or for long periods of time.

I'm not sure all the different hotels that tow, but some have parking passes which make it easier to scan car to be towed. If you tend to visit a hotel that has paper passes, snap a pic and print out copies to put on your dashboard when needed.
