I use both Text Free and Text Now. I prefer Text Now as it seems to have less advertising pop ups. Text Free hounds you to turn on notifications. I never turn on notifications for anything.

Yeah you and Smitty have valid points on using GV. Comes down on the level of protection and convenience that works for you. Surely better than using your main line where they can google your number, see if your number shows up on their whatsapp other social media platforms that will identify other users on your contacts, etc.
