BUT, because the ramifications of misuse of that sensitive information is so high for so many the threat, whether made in anger or actually meant, is such a bad thing for the booker to do. I'm with you on that.

But that threat is never made if just one of the people in the interaction keeps calm, focuses on what the actual goal is -- getting the appointment made and making the appointment -- and doesn't choose to escalate things due to frustration or disappointment with mistakes or confusion about details or impatience due to timeliness in communications / responses.
