My guy SDPDX gets it right, here. I pay attention to their arms, hands, legs, and even feet. If there's swelling, pitting / divots, or sores / bruising, there's a bigger problem.

It's called "peripheral edema" and while it CAN be from prescription medication use, it's usually (in these situations) from drug use, and probably heavy drug use. And if it's from "prescription" meds it's probably over-use of those popular pain / anxiety meds and likely sourced illegally.
