Yes and no. You can make an appointment, but ultimately it's more like merely a suggestion or preference. They do try to hold the appointment, but if it is busy it will turn into luck of the draw.

Agree with this that they usually do try to hold the appointment, but if another customer walks in just before your scheduled time, you may get bumped.

What I've noticed is that AMP philosophy is "a bird in hand is better than 2 in the Bush" - a customer that has entered the shop is a guaranteed thing, whereas an appointment could fall through or the customer might flake. So they will prefer to service the customer currently in the shop because if they don't take them and let's say you flake, well then they just "lost" 2 customers which is bad for business.

Only exception to this is if you are a well-known regular, then the shop will tend to honor your appointments more. I will say that being a regular, and doing repeat visits and establishing a reputation for yourself as a "good customer" will definitely earn you better treatment.
