I've had $100 omakase, it's ok. The places that I like are at the $300+ price range. But this doesn't mean that more money means a better experience. A vendor took me out to Joji ($400 per person starting price, ex Masa chef) and we dropped $800+ per person. It was a forgettable experience. The food was good but the chefs had no personality.

My favorite omakase places in Manhattan:

1. Nakaji https://www.nakajinyc.com/ - $365 omakase, my favorite sushi bar in town. I used to eat at his popup in Harlem.

2. Kosaka https://www.kosakanyc.com/ - $275 omakase, this place is a steal for this price. Very underrated, this is what it's like when eating high end sushi in Tokyo.
