Not sure if there's a better way, but another easy indication someone is new is that their reputation is nonexistent (grey). Still requires scanning though.

Just noticed this too, but they should add BB options in "Some topics I like discussing" and not just "Topics I hate discussing" LOL.

The likes in general are completely useless. All the good stuff is in the dislikes, even non BB.
