Regarding the history part, it has nothing to do with that. Korea is pretty wealthy nowadays, and people don't really admire the USA Lifestyle anymore. Especially compared to LA and OC, cities in Korea are nicer and safer.

I think I can answer the question. I have seen 2 kgirls and one jgirl on the outside in the past. None of them were necessarily attracted to the American man and they were here to make money quietly, and send the money back home so they could buy real estate, pay tuition or start a business. All three were hya and if you saw them on the street you would take a look. All three could easily take in 20 k in a given month putting their earnings far above that of most of their customers as this was tax free cash. Pretty sure they're just from poor backgrounds and looking to make as much money as possible. In my experience talking to them, some seem to want to live and "retire" here. Others are here just to make the money and will return to Korea when it's time to call it a day (and are probably wiring the money home to support family etc).
