I wouldn't put too much thought into it. I've ran into quite a few throughout the years, and like someone posted below, it's quite common in cities like NY or LA. I've never run into any issues, outside of the awkwardness that comes when you're expecting a mms. While I always prefer a mms, the pps' have always been cool and very friendly.
