I don't have any specific insight, but there could easily have been a camera pointing at the parking lot from any of the businesses in the strip, or across the street. Also, might have caller I'd from making an appointment, or maybe they even knew the guy.

How damn drunk do you have to be to go that damn far? It's insane.

The flock system. Basic info like make, model, roofracks, etc can be picked up and reported back to police with location, time, and license plate. Game over.
