Details are still coming out, but in this case the woman claims she was trafficked. This is very different than other corg cases I've reported on. In other cases, the women were let go without fanfare and given pamphlets on how to get help. Most cases involved either drug and weapons, or the corg did over the top things to bother neighbors. I've reported on about 12 corg shut downs, this is the first case focused on the trafficking angle (the previous case was an AMP that was so loud all day long a bible study group next door could not pray I am not joking). I want to give some insight on corg-level problems:

In OC a corg was busted with a warrant after repeated neighbor complaints. They arrested two corg men who worked as staff, but let all women go as victims. Here is the exact wording of the news article.

"Three victims at the residence were given information on victim assistance before leaving the property."

By the way, the Irvine corg was putting hundreds of fliers on cars. That was the start of complaints and a part of the line crossed. Excerpted from news article:

"Two men were arrested on suspicion of sex trafficking after police discovered a brothel in an Irvine home that the men allegedly were advertising on fliers placed on neighbors cars, police said."

In other words police wanted to solve the neighbor complaints, they were doing their jobs. Most cops have real crimes to solve, but it crosses the line when you bother people. Do not bother the neighbors, do not hang out, don't give residents a hard time with things like fliers. 99% of people don't care unless you bother them where they live. Same with leasing, they want people to be happy. So those posted notices you reference spoke to exactly that sentiment, I'm saying it's pretty much everything and just a sampling of their feelings. Many of us noted that this year people are not considerate like they used to be, especially at that exact location months ago.

In SD it was even sillier:
There was a corg in SD where the police would show up and ask them to please stop bothering the neighbors. Months later, a woman died so police had to investigate again but it was an OD so not foul play. They then let the corg guys go in exchange for borrowing the house to run stings for a week, since they were there for the dead woman and not about the corg. Hence news reported "police had been to this location before". That corg has set up just 10 minutes away and is still running to this day!

In SD they did not even arrest anyone, just shut it down because it was bothering neighbors. With no bother, people go live their lives and focus on the real problems. That org is still serving up old Chinese women to this day. You know the silliest thing? AFTER that incident someone asked about that same SD corg on Oct 15th, even knowing what happened. I warned them again that while corgs work for some people, this particular one is lax. So of course the next day on Oct 16th, the OC branch of this corg was shut down. What branch? The very OC corg I just mentioned passing out fliers. I mean come on.

To use an better example of how enforcement varies, City of Industry is still a non-stop fuck fest. They don't bother anyone so no one gets elected about it, that's why. Any local knows it's a net positive, there's not much else to do and it employs locals. Most Cops know how to have a good time, local clubs keep it hidden rather than out in the open where neighbors can see. So no one wants to have the rep of being the guy who shut it down when your coworkers actually like the clubs. The teasing will never stop.

San Diego clubs have a funnier story. Cops won't even touch Cheetah's anymore out of embarrassment being dressed down in court since 2018. All evidence dismissed and police were fined. Every single year the mileage has risen since, it has by far the hottest girls but also lowest mileage. Don't go unless you want just a solid lap dance. Even more, in parts of NYC, they've changed their priorities and dismissed all cases years ago. They ended prosecution and reversed past convictions for decades. Previously to this, policy was to dismiss prosecution after five counseling sessions which was already lenient.

To add to this, it was a federal investigation since it crossed state lines. However since simple prostitution is legal federally (ex: 10 out of 17 counties of Nevada allow it) they focused on the business and handed their "leftover" evidence to the state prosecutors of MA and VA. MA chose to pursue 28 cases, whereas the VA district attorney held a brief press conference saying they would not pursue any cases. As you say, luck indeed. A prosecutor's job is always to pick and choose which cases to dedicate resources on.

Same situation with strip clubs in COI. They get raided every 5 years for drugs and illegal weapons, but not the harmless fun. Whereas in SD, the police were so embarrassed and fined so hard by the judge over Cheetah's that they have not shown their faces in a very long time. Things at Cheetah's are better than ever. Normal police are happy to join in and get LDKs like everyone else, most of them get that it's pretty mild stuff anyways when there are literal streetwalkers in downtown. What happens in practice is periodically the police chief picks a target and everyone has to do their job. But I will straight up say they are going to pick a different target next time, they want results not more embarrassment.
