Yes and No and Yes, -its very complicated.

For many-many decades Strippers were classified as 'Independent Contractors' -not Employees. And they had to pay the Club rent to use the Private Lap Dance Booths and to use the Pole Stage too.

In addition, Strippers were expected to 'Tip-Out' (Pay) all of the Club Staff (Security, DJ, House-Mom, Door-Greeter, etc.) a set 'Tip-Out' Fee (usually $10-$20 each) for every night worked.

Now (In California) (After several Class-Action Law Suits) Strippers have to be classified as 'Employees' (either W-2 or 1099) (And also pay Federal Taxes, State Taxes, FICA, State Disability Ins. , Healthcare Ins. , and take Mandatory Lunch breaks).

But don't you believe for one second that the Club gave-up on the lucritive revenue stream of extorting Strippers for Stage and Dance booth rent. -NO! The Club just added other deductions into the Strippers Payroll check (Like; Dressing Room Cleaning, Manditory Purchase of Club Logo clothing, Microwave usage Fee, Security Fee (walking the Dancer to her Car) Over-Charging for Food, . And many more.

So although the Stripper gets a measly Minimum Wage paycheck, it is Taxed and Fee-Deducted to practically Zero-Dollars left.

Additionally, Strip Clubs are still allowed to charge the Stripper other 'Cash' Fees. Like; 'Late to Work Fee', Caught Chewing Gum Fee, Lewdness Fee, . Or a 'Fee' for anything the Club says is against the rules) and many-many-many other abitrary Bullshit Fees, and all of these are outlined (in writing) in the Work Application Contract Agreement that the Stripper reads and signs in order to work there.

This is just the"Tip of the Iceberg" when it come to knowing about the StripClub Industry, . And please don't be insulted, but you being unaware of the Stripper's Pay and Work environment tells me that you are still a StripClub 'Newbie' and you are way behind the knowledge curve about the StripClub Industry.

I worked in one of the San Diego clubs as a DJ and bouncer during the late 80's-early 90's. Back when Pacers was "The Club", but Fred L. Had the Dirty Dans clubs in Downtown, Kearney Mesa, Oceanside, and The Main Attraction off Friars Road area. He had a partial ownership in Miramar-and was always trying to buy the whole club (but never succeeded).

Back then, most of the girls were part time employees, earning minimum wage. Fred hooked up with Pure Platinum out of Florida and introduced the whole independent contractor via "talent agency" (run by his brother in law Miles). Miramar never introduced it, but I can't recall if Bill and Norma did it with their two clubs.

The girls were expected to tip out the bartender, DJ, and Bouncer-not set amounts but a percentage. Good DJs made as much as the bartenders, but the girls were expected to serve drinks as well. The bouncers got a lot less (between 5-10% Bouncers were expected to escort the ladies to their cars to make sure they left the clubs safely, as well as legally.

Towards the time I left, the girls found a loophole that allowed them to wear tights with g-strings or t-bars offstage. Vice regulations said no bare butts offstage. Table dances were permitted, but were no touch. We had mobile platforms the girls could use. VIP rooms and that such started popping up after I left the biz, I'm not sure what the laws are now. In general though, most club owners would not want to risk losing a liquor license be allowing any type of prostitution bust in the club. They were usually getting minor hits or warnings for costuming or 6 foot violations-but nothing for overt solicitation. The newe clubs that serve non-alcohol and allow 18 year olds don't have liquor licensing conceenrs, just local vice. I sometimes wonder if vice is relaxing their presence nowadays.

Went there last week and wasn't really impressed with what I saw. I guess I'm jaded now that I've had girls from agencies. This seems like a lot of time, effort and money for a possibility of the same result you can get by just going to a real escort.

I make a quick stop last night and they still let me in with the card for $10. That might end when the card expires. Pretty low break-even point with a $10 membership and $10 admission versus no card and a $15 admission. But then the card is less discreet.
