Inflation. Cab from SanYsidro to HK is now $10 with tip. Room at Cascada (HK's hotel) are now $40 for 45 per girl. Most girls start asking for $120 and settle for $100. Depends on the time of day. Usually, during slow times, you can get $80-100 easily. I have paid more for ONE girl, but she was WAY hotter than every lady in the club. Looked 18, but was 23 and could have easily been a swimsuit model. All natural too! She was $180. $200 if you wanted bb. She was super nice too. Street girls are decent bargains too, but service can be hit or miss. I've avoided the other clubs in the area other than an occasional Chicago or Tropical visit. Usually, HK can get it done. adelitas got shutdown last year too. Story is they had under age girls and govt stepped in. Who knows.

One word of advice: don't procrastinate if you see a girl you're interested in. Literally, get it done. Been the last few time where I see something and before I could move, she would get scooped up. Usually they end up not being around for quite a while.

Tacos are still top notch. Get the onion / jalapeo topping. Worth it.

I used to live in SD and would go to TJ frequently, on weekend nights; I never had an issue with safety and I'm basically as gringo as they come. I would usually take a cab from the border crossing (before PedWest was built) for $5, though I did walk one time; it's just a long walk, about a mile, but still generally safe. It's from a shopping area, across the river on a pedestrian bridge, through another shopping area, then to Zona Norte. There are some sketchy areas north and west of the main clubs, but Avenida Revolucion is right there 1 block east and that's a long, very popular road heading to the south, lots of regular night clubs, restaurants, etc. , including Caesar's (where the Caesar salad was invented - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caesar%27s). If you want to branch out, sticking to that area is as perfectly fine as any other city. I'd gone into a couple of the other local bars in Zona Norte (like Las Glorias, Playboy, El Nortena) - the waiters outside will encourage you to go in. And was always safe. I was generally the only English-speaker, but I was never bothered. There's also a regular club on the corner of the street behind HK called La Malquerida which would have regular bands play, etc.

When I went the costs were different (I moved away in 2019) - the rooms upstairs from HK had gotten to $16 for 30 minutes (up from like $10 in 2010), girls were still $60 for 30 minutes. Can generally get a little cheaper at Adelitas down the block. Chicago club and Tropical bar are less strip club more dance hall, and unless it's changed Bar Dolce & Gabbana was a pretty good strip club. Small, but I used to go there first to get 2-for-1 beers, and the ladies were generally not bad looking, though I never partook.

Oh, and the taco stand on the corner of Calle Coahuila and Avenida C Ninos Heroes is the best in the area, and is always busy.

TJ safety is always the first thing guys ask me about. I normally go down in the AM as being from the east coast, the 3 hrs has you up and ready. I usually walk over the San Ysidro pedestrian crossing. Pretty easy. If you have Global Entry, take it as it potentially can save a ton of time on the return as it can be hrs long. With GE, or Sentri pass, you walk by the entire line and go right in. Literally takes me 10-15 minutes max.

Safety wise, I go down early and don't stay too much past 9 pm. After that, I could see it getting sketchy. During the day, I have zero concerns about safety. That said, I don't wander around too much outside the 2 blocks around Hong Kong. Outside of that, it is easy. Most guys go to HK via cab and leave without seeing the rest of Zona Norte. Probably good. Outside of the clubs and taco stands, it is a shithole. That said, the clubs are usually nice. HK is very big and fun and most of the girls and patrons are nice. The waiters / meseros are paid to get you to buy drinks and buy ficha drinks for the girls. They can be high pressure, but harmless.

Safety in the club is fine. In the rooms with the girls are usually good too. I did have one issue with one lady who tried to Roofie my drink, but I did drink it, it didn't do much than make me "drunk". She was trying to rob me, but I never passed out or anything. She ended up getting fired after I complained a couple days later that she slipped me something. I showed my blood test and they said she was known thief. So the got rid of her.

There is one guy on here in the Orange County CA sub forum (way down it is something like "fun in TJ with OC bros". Goes buy captain solo. He is a nice guy and we shared a drink with me a few times. Good advise from him for newbies. For me, I like adventure and because I don't drink, I rarely find myself in tough spots. That said, you will see some wacky shit. Mind your business and keep moving. Find a girl, get a room, blast away and repeat. Very fun, and a bargain. The women are mostly hotter than most of the PVD girls and even have some US girls down there. Found a hot girl from Orlando last time I was there. She was a stoner and wanted to just live in TJ. Fun girl.

I was in Tijuana last week and overall, even it has lost a bit of its luster. Still a ton of girls, but the Hong Kong club and their associated hotel are gouging customers now. $40 for a 45 minute hotel room (that they start knocking at 30 minutes).
