Saw her recently and everything posted was nice and accurate. Her hours are a bit weird that is due to her other job. Just to the recovery, do not think of recovery as only being a FEMA thing. Keep in mind a number of things. First, the amount of water involved was above and beyond anything that could reasonable be expected. Far worse than anything that preceded it anywhere in NC. Second, the size of the affected area is huge, bigger than many states. Third, many of the areas are in remote locations not easily accessed.

Looking at the total relief effort, I think it has been amazingly good. And for something like this, you do not want to leave it just to FEMA. You need the help of local companies, local volunteers, local and state governments, and FEMA. You do not rebuild the entire infrastructure of a huge area in a few days.

Two days after the storm, on TV I saw on the news an interview with a young woman that was conducted in a parking lot and you could see some damage around. She was asking, where is FEMA. Her life was not in danger, she was in a parking lot. Maybe FEMA felt those who lives were in immediate danger was a higher priority than holding her hand? After two days, you are in a safe area, what other basic needs can be so important. Food would be nice but the only vital thing is water and if you had not filled some water jugs before the height of the storm, then you need a lesson in how to take basic care of yourself.
