What exact tests do you recommend? It seems there is HIV, gon, syph, herpes, various bacteria diseases. Things like HPV don't have tests I think. I totally understand the need to get a check up in this pursuit. But what do you say to your doctor? Hey test me for everything just in case?

HIV is the one you need, since you can have it without symptoms. Once a year, no more. HIV is very hard to spread through normal sex (anal is much higher) but since a small risk exists that's what annual testing is for. Most of what you listed are bacteria that are easily killed off with antibiotics. There is no point in testing for bacteria unless you have serious symptoms or about to take on a serious partner with bb. Either you are a free man and can get treated before you take on a new partner, or you do not touch your partner if you are going bbfs. Bbbj is much safer, not perfect but nowhere in the same discussion.

I tell my doctor I have multiple sex partners, so please give me an STD test. My doctor does not judge. She actually re-ordered my STD test when I get my annual check up. Nobody needs HPV tests. You can just..get vaccinated. The vast majority of HPV infections resolve without problem. If you get a skin or genital wart, it can be removed. Let me just say that HPV is way way more common than HIV, and way way more deadly. You can take drugs for HIV and they work, just a few thousand people in the US die a year to AIDS. HPV however causes 700 k cases of cancer a year. It kills a lot more and is hundreds of times more infectious, hundreds of times more common. There is no treatment. Just a vaccine. The reason they don't offer it to anyone over 45 without an exception is by that age you've probably been exposed hundreds of times to most of the strains. Most people are exposed to HPV as teenagers from kissing.

I have had 5 covid vaccines including the newer covid (last year) and the new new covid (this year). Would it make sense for me to regularly test if I have covid? No, not unless I'm working in a hospital or visiting grandma. I don't get tested for covid at all, I do everything to prevent it. In the same way, the strategy in the guide above is more important than STD testing. It attacks the problem rather than asks questions about it.

I get tested once a year. I think more important though is if you bb, you need to not touch a SO and if you get a new relationship, get treated. Regardless of tests. They are not tested for in STD tests, such tests do not exist. Men are often asymptomatic and can still pass it to a symptomatic partner. Doctors only treat them if they become UTIs, meaning if you have symptoms or the person you passed it to has symptoms. You can see the problem there, it is too late. A doctor's job is not to prevent you from being caught.

Testing does not help you at all on not getting caught passing a UTI. It only detects things like HIV or just a couple of asymptomatic bacteria infections you may have for the public good. They do not test for them all. Such a test does not exist and never will. Of course if you are symptomatic or say you have symptoms, callondoc will issue a prescription. It is really cheap, just don't abuse it. If you go bb again, you restart everything, so wait until you need to quit.

Based on my research, if you're over 50 like me, there's probably not much reason to get vaccinated with it at this point. Meaning that if you've had more than just a few sexual partners in your life (and most of us guys here have had more than a few), then you were likely exposed to HPV more than a minute ago.

I think there is much basis for that, but to be clear there are 9 strains of HPV covered. Some cause genital warts. Some cause cancer. They are different strains (there are well over 50 strains of HPV but most are 'harmless'). Certainly we are likely to have been exposed when younger, but probably not all. I was exposed when I was around 15 and got a small wart (not genital, HPV also causes skin warts) that was later removed. I got it from kissing a similar aged girl. I was still a virgin.

That said, a solid 1 in 8 kgirls and jgirls I've seen have genital warts. Many more have them but they are not visible. Gardasil 9 covers every strain that causes these problems. HPV is responsible for 99% of cervical cancer, to illustrate how specific some strains are.

Btw if you have skin warts, even genital, they can be removed. Sometimes they go away on their own, while rarely they get worse. See a doctor.

I've looked around, I don't see any path for those of us over 45 for Gardasil 9. Who has gotten it after 50 here?

Based on my research, if you're over 50 like me, there's probably not much reason to get vaccinated with it at this point. Meaning that if you've had more than just a few sexual partners in your life (and most of us guys here have had more than a few), then you were likely exposed to HPV more than a minute ago. IMHO, not worth fretting about and, more importantly, guys who play in AMPs, escorts, K-orgs etc, understand that the ROI comes with those possibilities. But as a contributing member to our community, I'm preaching to the choir here.
