Why protect yourself from STI's?

First, you best assume that every SW you meet has at least one STI. Most have more than just one.

Second, you better should know that only a few STI's can actually be cured. (Syphilis, Gonorrhea, Chlamydia mostly.) Some, but not all, of the other STI's can be managed at best. Many cannot even be managed.

Third, if you can get it, you can give it. Your wife, SO, GF, even stranger you might meet in the bar next Friday, might not appreciate you giving them Herpes or Warts (which can be a risk for certain genital cancers), because you decided it was easier to get a BJ from a SW than that pretty girl sitting at the other end of the bar.

Finally if you've got an STI that a SW doesn't have you can give it to them and they can in turn give it us. So protecting yourself is a way to protect us.
